Artvol

The name for the new artistic movement Artvol is derived from a combination of three words - the English words "Art" and "Volume" and an abbreviation of the Russian word "Volosi", which means hair.

Artvol uses the unique qualities of hair for paintings, which makes each art piece unique and invaluable. By creating volume on a flat canvass, hair breathes life itself into each painting.

Hair is like a crown – it completes the human image. Hair has been traditionally considered the protector of the most priceless and reverent human possession – the human soul. Hair carries our uniqueness and a piece of everyone of us - our emotions, feelings, and our life, through centuries and generations. Hair carries our genetic code.

Artvol exposes and at the same time preserves the secrets of the human soul. Finishing a faint sketch with live hair stirs our imagination and transforms the image into a realistic portrait. We treat cut hair as useless not realizing its power and secrets. Using cut hair in portraits gives the hair a new life and makes us immortal.

Artvol is timeless. It takes on an artistic and aesthetic form to preserve the human individuality for eternity.
